Charles McGahey
Clarinet/Saxophone

Charles McGahey is a retired band director with over 30 years of public school teaching experience in the state of Georgia, specifically Fayette and Gordon counties. He has an extensive musical background and education, starting with his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Charles then earned his Master of Music and Educational Specialist Degrees from Georgia State University. He has also earned a Master of Church Music from the New Orleans Baptist Seminary. In 1998, Charles was selected to be included in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." McGahey has also served as an adjunct music professor at East Tennessee State University and Northeast State Community College in Blountville, TN.

Charles plays his saxophones (tenor, alto, and soprano), as well as clarinet and flute professionally in various venues in the area as a one man show called "Mr. C's One Man Band." He also plays in a Dixieland band and the Sawnee Concert Band in Cumming, GA. McGahey has taught private lessons throughout his career, and many of his students have become All-State band members. He is well versed in multiple styles of music and learned in all aspects of music, theory, and performance. Charles has two grown children, and has resided in Cumming since 2009 with his wife of 42 years, Jan, and their Bassett Hound.
